Vehicle insurance: a complex market and avoidable over-premiums

  • Premiums vary enormously by insurer, vehicle type and driver history
  • The difference between partial and comprehensive casco is often misunderstood at claim time
  • Bonus-malus clauses and deductibles can double the real cost of a claim
  • Young drivers and drivers with past claims sometimes pay excessive over-premiums
  • Many policyholders don't know that older vehicles benefit from special conditions

What we optimise for you

Third-party liability (compulsory)

Liability covers damage caused to third parties. Ceilings and ancillary guarantees vary by insurer.

Partial vs. comprehensive casco

We calculate the break-even point based on your vehicle's value to choose the right coverage level.

Deductible optimisation

A higher deductible reduces the monthly premium. We calculate the optimal balance for your profile.

Driver protection

In the event of an at-fault accident, driver protection covers your own bodily injuries – often overlooked.

Additional drivers

Partner, children, young drivers – we optimise family coverage without excessive over-premiums.

Replacement vehicles

Classic car, campervan, dream car: some coverage is very specific.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • βœ— Keeping comprehensive casco on a depreciated vehicle whose value no longer justifies this cover
  • βœ— Choosing too low a deductible on an old vehicle and paying a disproportionate premium
  • βœ— Not informing the insurer of a regular additional driver (risk of refusal in the event of a claim)
  • βœ— Forgetting to cancel the old policy when switching – and paying two insurances simultaneously
  • βœ— Not declaring a vehicle modification (wheels, lowering, sport equipment) that could invalidate coverage
  • βœ— Ignoring multi-risk offers (car + home + liability) that can offer significant discounts

Frequently asked questions

Partial casco covers damage independent of your fault: theft, fire, hail, glass breakage, collision with an animal. Comprehensive casco also covers damage caused by your own fault (accidents for which you are responsible). It is recommended for recent or high-value vehicles.

As a general rule, when the market value of the vehicle is less than 10 times the annual comprehensive casco premium, it is more economical to switch to partial casco. We do this calculation for you.

Third-party liability covers all of Europe (Green Card). Casco may be limited to Switzerland or extended depending on your policy. For frequent travel outside Europe, a specific extension may be required.

In Switzerland, you can cancel your car insurance annually, with 3 months' notice before the due date. In the event of vehicle sale or permanent departure abroad, you have a right of extraordinary cancellation.

Yes, absolutely. Every vehicle registered in Switzerland must be compulsorily insured with third-party liability. Driving without liability insurance is illegal and exposes you to criminal sanctions as well as unlimited financial liability in the event of an accident.
